A triangle approach to positive & beautiful aging.

At Skin Dynamics our philosophy is focused on natural looking outcomes and for this we take a triangle approach to treatment. Let us break that down for you...

Lines and wrinkles are signs of aging, but aging also occurs beneath the skin. Signs of aging exist at every layer of the facial structure, in collagen, in fat, in bone, and in skin. Aging is unique to each individual with genetics playing a large role. Other factors, like sun exposure, stress, smoking, diet, and exercise can also impact when aging begins as well as how fast it progresses. There are three main things that affect the way we age: muscle, volume, and skin. Medical-grade skincare is a vital component of anti-aging but skincare cannot reverse volume loss, just as filler for volume loss cannot tighten skin or improve tone and texture. Treating just one thing will lead to looking unnatural, even overdone. We need to address and treat all three (muscle, volume, skin) in order to achieve a natural look and to ultimately look your best.

So, where do you start? There is a customized and unique plan for every patient we see, but when we think about prevention and a positive-aging plan, we almost always recommend the following:

1. A customized medical grade skincare routine.

This is essential for all our patients, from our newest to our most advanced. If you are new to medical grade skin care, we encourage you to be consistent with the routine and give it at least 90 days. On average, it takes 28 days for your skin to turn over and improvements to pigment or collagen depend on other factors that take time. Be patient and consistent, the results will come.

2. A conservative neuromodulator (more commonly referred to as “Baby Botox”). Botox is a type of neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The term “baby” makes reference to a conservative approach that delivers natural-looking results while preserving authentic facial expression. The benefits are seen almost immediately, however, the real magic in “baby botox” happens with conservative treatments over time - this is when we begin to leverage the long-term preventative and cumulative effects.

3. A treatment to address collagen and elastin: Microneedling. Automated Microneedling (aka. Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment used to address a multitude of anti-aging concerns including minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin elasticity, pore size, skin tone, texture and colour (it also reduces the appearance of acne scarring). Our Eclipse MicroPen is used to create controlled “micro-injuries” to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s process of repair results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. The Eclipse MicroPen also creates micro-channels which allow topical products to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.

We believe in the power of the triangle approach to treatment. Each of these components work synergistically to achieve both cumulative and preventative effects over time.
